Aston Villa will seriously consider parting with defender Lucas Digne if an appropriate offer arrives this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 29-year-old could have a difficult summer ahead after losing his place in the Villa side to January signing Alex Moreno.
Sources with knowledge of Digne’s situation have revealed that the France international is not satisfied at playing a backup role in Unai Emery’s side.
It is also believed that Emery is not a fan of the former Everton star after moving to replace him with Moreno in his first transfer move as Villa boss in January.
Digne earns a reported wage of £160,000-a-week at Villa Park – and his contract is set to run until June 2026.
That makes him the highest earner at the club, ahead of the likes of Boubacar Kamara and Philippe Coutinho.
The left-back has made 25 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring twice.
However, Moreno’s arrival has meant that Digne has been limited to just one start in the last eight Premier League games.
The Spaniard cost Villa a reported fee of £13.3million when they signed him from Real Betis in January.
He has already notched two assists in eight starts for his new side.
Moreno’s introduction to the side has coincided with an incredible upturn in form – which sees them unbeaten in seven Premier League games.
