Joao Felix should pay to leave Atletico Madrid but he will likely end up at a “bigger club” than Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Felix had wasted the last three years at Atletico.
Sources told Football Insider last month (10 November) that Unai Emery’s priority for the January transfer window is an A-list attacker playing across the front line.

“First of all, I think he’s wasted the last three seasons at Atletico Madrid,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Any young star who wants to achieve anything, you don’t go to Atletico Madrid. The manager plays a defensive system that doesn’t suit your style of football.
“If I was him, I’d pay to leave Atletico Madrid myself, that’s how much I would want to leave.
“But he’s going to have so many options. As much as I would love him to come to Aston Villa, I just feel Joao Felix, a young star, is going to have a lot more options than just Aston Villa.
“There’s talk of Arsenal and other clubs. We can wish and we can hope but I do think he’ll choose a bigger club.”
Felix has scored 33 goals and provided 18 assists in 129 appearances across all competitions for Atletico.
The 23-year-old is under contract with the Spanish giants until the summer of 2026.
