Emiliano Martinez should trust the process at Aston Villa amid links with a transfer move away.
Speaking exclusively to Football insider, former Villa striker Gabrel Agbonlahor believes that the Argentine goalkeeper should stay at Villa Park despite reported interest from Manchester United.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday (28 June) that Aston Villa are braced for Man United to make an offer for their goalkeeper Martinez.
United staff have what is said to be a “concrete” interest in the former Arsenal man and they have been further impressed by the elite mentality he demonstrated as Argentina won the World Cup in remarkable circumstances.
With a potential move on the cards, Agbonlahor still believes that Emery can convince Martinez to stay at the club.
“Emery should tell Martinez to trust the process at Aston Villa,” He told Football Insider.
“He should stress to Martinez that he has a team playing really attractive football, which you also enjoy.
“Villa are also buying top players, being linked with stars, and are now playing in Europe and he could push the team for a Champions League spot.
“There is no reason why Villa can’t fight for those Champions League positions, which will be Unai Emery’s goal in the Premier League.”
