Arsenal interested in Tyrone Mings but Aston Villa transfer demands could derail deal as Arteta searches for defenders

ARSENAL are reportedly interested in signing Tyrone Mings – but could be put off by Aston Villa’s valuation of the defender.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is planning to patch up his dodgy defence during the transfer window this summer.

Tyrone Mings has made 28 appearances across all competitions this season

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Mings is the latest defender to catch Arteta’s eye.

Arsenal are said to “like” the 27-year-old, but there are doubts over whether they can afford his fee.

The Villans forked out Ā£20million to sign Mings permanently from Bournemouth last summer.

He has emerged as a key player at Villa Park after making 28 appearances across all competitions.

Dean Smith’s side will be desperate to keep hold of the 6ft 5in powerhouse – who made his England debut in October.

But Arteta is on the lookout for some defenders as part of his major overhaul in North London.

David Luiz looks increasingly likely to leave following his horror show against Manchester City.

Shkodran Mustafi also hinted he could be on his way out of Arsenal after he admitted his “interest” in a move back to Germany.

As well as being linked to Mings, Arsenal have set their sights on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Juventus star Daniele Rugani, Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly and Samuel Umtiti have also attracted interest.
