Arsenal are reportedly plotting a move for either Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Ollie Watkins in the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta has been struggling for a focal point of his attack with the Gunners only scoring five goals in their first seven Premier League games, with three of those coming against Tottenham.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has played as the No.9 this season, but has historically favoured being on the left of a front three.
Alexandre Lacazette is out of favour and in the final year of his £180,000-a-week contract, while doubts still remain about Eddie Nketiah.
The Sun report that Arsenal are looking for a Lacazette replacement and are targeting stars from their Premier League rivals.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins are said to be on their shortlist.
Watkins scored 14 Premier League goals last season, his first in the Premier League, while Calvert-Lewin netted 16 times.
Both clubs are above Arsenal this season and have been on an upward trajectory, while the north London club has been on more of a downward trend.
But talkSPORT host, and former Charlton, Spurs and Villa striker, Darren Bent believes the Gunners can go after these players.
When asked if Arsenal can lure either of the striker to the club, Bent said: “I think they probably could do.
“Don’t get me wrong, Everton are having a fantastic season and Aston Villa are a club on the up.
“But Arsenal are bigger than those two. Although they’ve not had a great couple of years, but in terms of the size of the club they are bigger than them.
“Where Arsenal are going it looks like they are on the rise now hopefully. There’s no reason why they can’t get one of those exciting young talents.”
