Aston Villa close in on three big-money signings in £50m+ swoop

Aston Villa are closing in on three new signings worth more than £50million as they step up their big-money summer overhaul, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League club are putting the finishing touches to the capture of Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez for a fee of around £20million including add-ons.

Football Insider has been told he has agreed personal terms with Villa and is set to triple his wages after being given the green light to quit Emirates Stadium.

Dean Smith’s side are in advanced talks to sign Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica for around £16m.

Villa are offering the Kosovo international, 24, a five-year contract to persuade him to quit the Bundesliga for the English top flight.

Smith is also looking to recruit a second proven striker ahead of the 5 October transfer cut-off.

Bournemouth rejected a £16million bid from Villa for Josh King as they hold out for their £20million to be met.

Villa are keen on King, 28, even though they signed Ollie Watkins from Brentford earlier this week for an initial £28m rising to a potential £33m with add-ons.

He was their second summer recruit following right-back Matty Cash, who joined from Nottingham Forest for £12m rising to £16m.

As revealed by Football Insider, Smith’s side want two proven strikers to lead their attack in addition to the injured Wesley, who will not be fit enough to start the new campaign.

The triple swoop means Villa could take their summer spend beyond the £100m mark for the second consecutive summer by the end of next week.

However, that figure would include performance related add-ons rather than the guaranteed fee.
