Aston Villa expert in no doubt after Traore ‘agreement’ secured

Alan Hutton has insisted it was a “no-brainer” for Unai Emery to bring Bertrand Traore back to Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa right-back said that although Emery would have wanted to bring in his own player, there was no reason for them not to recall Traore.

On Tuesday (31 January), the Villans confirmed that they have recalled the 27-year-old from his loan at Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir FK.

The winger joined the Basaksehir in August but has returned to Villa Park where he will continue his rehabilitation from injury.

Hutton suggested the exit of Danny Ings may have triggered the decision to bring back Traore.

I think Emery will want to have a look at him,” he told Football Insider.

In an ideal situation he would have wanted to bring in his own player. For whatever reason that has not happened. They have looked at different sort of attacking players and it has obviously not quite worked for him.

If you have got a player of quality that is out on loan and there is an agreement that you can bring him back in January, why wouldn’t you? So it is another option for him moving forward.

Danny Ings is away and these sort of players, [Leon] Bailey, [Emiliano] Buendia, [Philippe] Coutinho and now Traore, they have to chip in with goals if they want to start climbing the table.

So I see it as a no-brainer from the manager.
