Aston Villa have been utterly “disrespectful” to manager Dean Smith by even considering replacing him with Steven Gerrard.
That is according to ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed that Villa have a “strong interest” in Gerrard ahead of the summer.
But Smith‘s stock is also high with Villa in the top half of the Premier League table and boasting the third-best defensive record in the division.
Kenny was thoroughly unimpressed with the timing of the Gerrard reveal, going as far as to say that he hopes Villa suffer next season as a result.
“I do think it’s disrespectful,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
