Aston Villa News: Agbonlahor details how Terry can transform 26y/o

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed Aston Villa assistant head coach John Terry will be working closely with Trezeguet to help improve his end product at their Bodymoor Heath headquarters.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the legendary former Villa striker praised the Egyptian’s pace and dribbling ability but called on him to improve his finishing to become a “complete player”.

Trezeguet missed golden opportunities in Villa’s 2-1 defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old was substituted against the Hammers after suffering a bloody head injury after he was caught by Declan Rice’s boot in the process of winning a penalty.

Dean Smith confirmed to VillaTV that Trezeguet will be fit to face Wolves at the weekend and Agbonlahor has backed him to retain his place.

He told Football Insider: “He’s been in Dean Smith’s side now for a while. He’s one that the team like and I’m sure he’ll be playing against Wolves.

“I’m sure if Dean Smith was speaking truthfully he’d agree with me that Trezeguet looks like a great player who works hard for the team but if he could improve his finishing and his final ball he could become a great player.

“I’m sure that’s the club are working on, I know John Terry is a really good coach so I’m sure they’ll be working hard on that [in training]. Whether that’s crossing and finishing sessions which are very common at football clubs.

“He’s got tremendous pace, tremendous dribbling ability and it would make him more of a complete player if he could just do better in certain positions.

“If he does, it’ll be great for the team and I’d still start him over Traore because I feel Traore has a lot to prove when he comes on.

“Trezeguet is definitely the best right-wing option Villa have got at the moment.”
