Aston Villa news: Bruce – O'Hare has move lined up

Alex Bruce believes talks may have taken place over Aston Villa attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare signing a permanent deal at loan side Coventry City this summer.

The former Premier League centre-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests the 22-year-old has already got a move lined up as he heads into the final weeks of his contract at Villa Park.

As revealed by Football Insider, Villa are set to lose O’Hare this summer after the 22-year-old knocked back the club’s efforts to hand him a new deal.

Having seen the attacking midfielder help fire Coventry to promotion from League One this season, Bruce believes a permanent deal could be on the cards.

Asked if he thought talks had taken place over a permanent deal with the Sky Blues, Bruce told Football Insider: “Yeah, obviously it’s not far from the Midlands, where he’s from, so that move might fit. He might have impressed someone else while he’s been out on loan at Coventry.

He’s obviously got something lined up where he’s going to play.

“Coventry back in the Championship, a big club, it’s good to see Coventry back up there because they’ve obviously had a tough few years there with financial problems so I’m pleased to see them back in the Championship.”

O’Hare netted four goals and contributed another seven assists in on the way to the League One title with Coventry, with the third tier formally ended early following a club vote.

He has just nine first-team appearances under his belt at Villa, with his last outing coming back in January 2019.
