Aston Villa news: Hutton tips season to go to West Ham game

Alan Hutton has tipped Aston Villa to take their Premier League survival fight down to the final game of the season against West Ham.

The former Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he has a “feeling” it will be a nervy end to the campaign for both sets of fans.

Ahead of tonight’s game against Manchester United, the Villans sit four points adrift of West Ham and Watford, who sit 16th and 17th respectively.

With fixtures against Everton, Arsenal and Crystal Palace before the season-closer versus West Ham, Hutton suggests both Dean Smith and David Moyes’ men could be fighting for their lives in east London.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I’ve just got this feeling inside that it’s going to come down to the West Ham game at the end, for both clubs. I’ve been feeling it for weeks, I’ve just got a feeling.

“I think they’ve done well since they’ve come back. They’re defensively sound, I think Konsa has done well coming in defensively – he doesn’t attack that much going forward.

“It’s just about not sitting too deep and having teams on them, it’s about getting forward and making it count that they’ve struggled with.

“They’ve got games coming up that are winnable, they just have to keep doing what they’re doing and hopefully create a few more chances.”

Villa are yet to win a game since the restart of the Premier League, having drawn against Sheffield United and Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, West Ham still have to face fellow strugglers Watford and Norwich City before a trip to Manchester United in their penultimate game.
