Aston Villa star to be watched by big guns tonight as transfer close

Jake Doyle-Hayes will be watched by multiple clubs tonight as he closes in on quitting Aston Villa, Football Insider can reveal.

This site revealed last Saturday that the midfielder, 21, has been told by Villa he will be released when his contract expires at the end of this month.

The product of the Midlands giants’ academy has the perfect platform to attract suitors in this evening’s League Two semi-final play-off clash between his loan club Cheltenham Town and Northampton Town.

Doyle-Hayes provided the assist from a corner for a Charlie Raglan first half header as the Robins won the first-leg encounter 2-0.

Clubs from the Championship and League One will be closely monitoring the young midfielder in the second leg tonight at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Doyle-Hayes will be in the spotlight after suffering the blow of finding out his lengthy association with Villa is drawing to a close.

He graduated from the youth ranks at the Premier League outfit to make three first-team appearances.

Capped by Republic of Ireland at Under-21 level, Doyle-Hayes has made a name for himself this season on loan for Cheltenham in League Two.

He has made a big impact in the fourth tier, with 29 league starts among 35 appearances in all competitions.

Doyle-Hayes has scored once and his assist last Thursday was his seventh of the season.
