Steven Gerrard will demand a “big summer” at Aston Villa with the club tumbling down the Premier League table.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Villains’ form.
Aston Villa have dropped to 15th in the Premier League table after losing four straight games.
In their last outing (9 April), Tottenham hammered them 4-0 with Gerrard’s men missing a plethora of chances in the first half.
Kenny claims the Villa boss will be looking to spend big on more players like Philippe Coutinho this summer.
“15th is not good enough, they will be really disappointed with that,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I was actually really excited to see how Villa were going to do this season because of the transfers they made in the summer but it hasn’t quite worked for them.
“They have been so inconsistent this season because they have played some really good stuff.
“But there have been times where they have been really poor and they shouldn’t be down in 15th.
“I think they will have a big summer, they have to. Gerrard will demand that.
“I don’t know what was promised to him but he managed to get Coutinho to sign for them so I would trust him to spend well in the summer.”
Villa are next in action against Leicester City on Saturday (23 April).
They could rise to 14th place with a win.
