Aston Villa will get 'top dollar' for Cash amid Athletic update

Aston Villa will recoup “top dollar” for Matty Cash further down the line if he puts pen to paper on a new contract.

That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper and new Football Insider columnist Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after The Athletic‘s David Ornstein reported that Villa are ready to offer the right-back a new deal.

Cash, 23, signed a five-year contract with Villa after completing a £16million move. from Nottingham Forrest in the summer.

He has enjoyed a standout debut season, featuring 24 times for Dean Smith’s side expectation-defying side.

Villa have already handed new contracts to Tyrone Mings, Jack Grealish and John McGinn in 2020-21.

And Kenny insists that opening talks with Cash would be a smart move and ensure maximum resale value in the future.
