Bournemouth accept massive Wilson offer

Aston Villa have had a £20million-plus bid for Callum Wilson accepted by Bournemouth, Football Insider understands.

The 28-year-old is in high demand this summer following the Cherries’ relegation, with Villa joined by Newcastle United as the frontrunners for his capture.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that the Villans’ offer has been accepted but they still need to convince the England striker of a move as his preference is to join Steve Bruce’s side.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier today, Newcastle have agreed personal terms with Wilson and have tabled a £20million offer for his services.

This site detailed earlier this week how the Magpies were in pole position for the England international as Bruce looks to bolster his centre-forward options this summer.

However, they have been leapfrogged by Villa and Newcastle must now match their bid if they are to prise Wilson from Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Dean Smith’s men must now try and negotiate terms with the Cherries ace as the forward is yet to give the prospective the move the green light.

Wilson is seen by both Newcastle and Villa as a proven Premier League forward who can sort out their respective attacking woes from last season.

He has a total of 41 top-flight goals to his name and netted nine times in the league last term.

Wesley was Villa’s top-scoring centre-forward during the 2019/20 campaign with six goals across all competitions, all but one of which came in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Dwight Gayle’s four goals in Newcastle’s final eight games was enough to see him finish the season as Steve Bruce’s most prolific striker.
