Michael Brown has insisted Emiliano Martinez will be “delighted” to get one over his old teammates after Aston Villa beat Arsenal 3-0.
The former Tottenham midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has admitted Sunday’s victory was “huge” for Dean Smith’s side after their form took a hit with defeats to Leeds United and Southampton.
As quoted by the Sun after the win, Martinez boldly claimed that joining the Midlands outfit was a “step up” from the north London giants.
Villa confirmed the signing of Martinez in September after Football Insider revealed that a bid of £17million rising to £20m with add-ons bid had been accepted by the Gunners.
The 28-year-old has been a mainstay for Dean Smith and has played every minute of the club’s Premier League campaign so far since his move.
Brown has lauded the Villans for their performance and result and suggested Martinez may well be the happiest player among the squad heading into the international break.
