Aston Villa will have two very good goalkeepers if they complete the signing of Emiliano Martinez, according to Danny Mills.
The former England full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed Villa may have been scarred by their goalkeeping situation at the back end of last season.
Football Insider revealed that the Midlands club are set to announce the signing of Martinez, 28, from Arsenal after having a £17million plus add-ons bid accepted.
Last season’s first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton is still out with a knee injury picked up on New Years Day and has targeted Villa’s game away at Leicester City on October 17 for his return.
Orjan Nyland and Pepe Reina shared the gloves following Heaton’s injury last season as Villa avoided relegation by just a point.
Asked Football Insider who will be Villa’s number one when Heaton regains fitness, Mills said: “It’s difficult isn’t it because Martinez has done very, very well at Arsenal but Tom Heaton, I think is exceptional.
