Keith Hackett is baffled as to why Aston Villa were not awarded a penalty in their win against Fulham on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former head of the PGMOL suggested Villa should have been given a spot-kick for Mario Lemina’s coming together with John McGinn moments before VAR intervened on his challenge on Ollie Watkins.
Referee Andy Madley pointed to the spot for the foul on Watkins before he reversed his decision after reviewing the incident on the pitchside monitor.

With the scores level at 0-0 at the time, the decision threatened to define Sunday’s clash before Villa came from behind to run out 3-1 winners.
“It was an interesting one,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“It’s the first one [challenge on McGinn] where I think the penalty kick should’ve been awarded, not the delayed one.
