Heung-min Son tosses aside protective mask in frustration midway through first-half of Tottenham’s clash with Aston Villa

Heung-min Son showed his frustration in the early stages of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa by tossing away his protective mask.

The South Korean star wasn’t enjoying Spurs’ slow start, and threw aside his mask with just 18 minutes on the clock as his goalscoring partner Harry Kane had failed to touch the ball.

The forward appeared to get frustrated after losing possession and decided to ditch the protection.

Son began wearing the mask at the World Cup after fracturing his eye socket in one of Spurs’ final game before the tournament.

The 30-year-old looked in serious trouble after a collision took him out of action during a Champions League win over Marseille, but he was thankfully able to play in Qatar.

A hero in his country with over 100 appearances, Son contested the World Cup with a mask on after surgery on his eye socket.

And thanks to his presence, Korea were able to make the last 16 of the tournament, before being knocked out by Brazil.

Back in England Son is clearly a bit fed up of his protective equipment, though, and may be able to focus more, even if his club doctor isn’t happy.

Spurs returned to action by drawing 2-2 with Brentford after being 2-0, with comebacks characterising much of their season.

And while the late shows have been fun for neutrals, the players seem desperate to take an early lead.

Antonio Conte’s side again endured a sluggish first 45 minutes as they went into the break 0-0.
