Alan Hutton has been left raving over the performances of the “brilliant” Ezri Konsa at Aston Villa this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Villa and Scotland defender admits the 22-year-old is going under the radar in comparison to some of the bigger stars at the club.
The centre-back, who joined from Brentford back in 2019, has helped the Villans keep a clean sheet in both of their opening Premier League games, including in Monday’s 3-0 win over Fulham.
Partnered alongside Tyrone Mings, Konsa was tasked with keeping the Londoners’ Serbian talisman Aleksandar Mitrovic quiet at Cravan Cottage.
Hutton has lauded the defender for his form in 2020 and insists Dean Smith has built a formidable partnership at the heart of the backline.
Asked if he thought Konsa was going under the radar in comparison to the likes of Grealish and Mings, Hutton told Football Insider: “Yeah, he’s been playing brilliant, I think it was a position that was up for grabs from the end of last season to the start of this season.
