Alan Hutton insists it is a “matter of time” before Trezeguet is axed from the Aston Villa starting XI for Bertrand Traore.
The former Villa and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits the 25-year-old has shown signs of improvement but that it is inevitable he will be replaced by the summer signing in the near future.
The Egypt international has started both of the Villans’ Premier League games this season, having missed just four top-flight games last term.
However, Hutton believes that Traore’s arrival has put Trezeguet under serious pressure and claims that the new arrival will eventually take his place on the wing.
Hutton told Football Insider: “This is probably one of the first times his space has come up, pressure on his shoulders, somebody breathing down his neck.
“I think Traore will come in when he’s ready, he’s obviously still getting up to speed and I think when he’s 100 per cent he will come in but I think it’s spurred Trezeguet on.
