Alan Hutton believes new Aston Villa signing Emiliano Martinez has been promised the chance to be the club’s first-choice goalkeeper after his arrival from Arsenal.
The former Villa and Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggests that Tom Heaton will be scratching his head after the arrival of a new senior shot-stopper.
Villa confirmed on Wednesday morning that they had signed the 28-year-old from Arsenal after Football Insider revealed they had agreed a deal totalling a potential £20million with the Gunners.

It is understood the Villans have splashed out an initial £17million with a further £3million in add-ons.
Hutton insists that his old side will not have forked out that kind of money if the shot-stopper was not going to be their number one and believes that Heaton, who is currently out injured, will be sweating over his place in the side when he returns to fitness.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I mean he’s signing for £20million, we’re talking, so in my opinion it seems like he’s coming in as number one at the moment.
