Alan Hutton believes that John McGinn is in line to receive a new contract after Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings committed their futures to Aston Villa.
The former Villa and Scotland star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has lauded the club for tying down the “backbone” of the team and suggests his fellow countryman may be next.
Villa confirmed on Monday that Mings had put pen to paper on an extension until 2024, while Keinan Davis’ new deal, which will run for the same length of time, was announced a day later.

The Villans announced earlier this month that club captain and attacking talisman Grealish had signed a new five-year deal.
Hutton believes that McGinn, who signed a five-year deal in August 2019, deserves to join his teammates in being rewarded with new and improved terms.
Hutton told Football Insider: “Now I hope and expect they go and do the same with John McGinn, I think they’re the three players that are the mainstays, the backbone, if you like, of the team.
