Jack Grealish agent gives Man Utd transfer update and insists captain is focused on keeping Aston Villa up

JACK GREALISH’S agent denies a transfer move to Manchester United is already agreed – but admits it would be “great” for him to play Champions League football.

The 24-year-old star has enjoyed a brilliant campaign for Aston Villa despite his side’s relegation struggles.

Jack Grealish has not agreed a move to Man Utd, insists his agent

His performances have led to Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer making him one of his top summer targets.

Villa, who are four points adrift of Premier League safety, have slapped an £80million price tag on the head of their skipper.

Despite United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward warning fans it may not be “business as usual” in the transfer market due to the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis, it is still widely-believed he will press ahead with a move for Grealish.

And the attacker’s former manager Tim Sherwood claimed last week a deal had already been agreed between the clubs and ex-Notts County loanee.

However, Grealish’s agent Jonathan Barnett has rubbished those comments

He told Stretty News: “Absolutely no deal has been done with anybody.”

When asked about the £80m asking price and whether it was ambitious by Villa considering they are in real danger of relegation, he added: “I don’t think they are looking at the Championship themselves.

“They believe that hopefully they’ll get out of the trouble they’re in.

“Jack believes it, he’s fighting hard, as hard as he can to stop that. That’s all that is on his mind at the moment.

“He’s not interested in anything else other than fighting to get Aston Villa out of any trouble.”

Despite his keenness to stress Grealish’s commitment to helping the club survive, Barnett also admitted it would help his client’s career if he was playing top-level football next season.

He added: “On the other hand, I think as far as his career is concerned, it would be great for him to play in the Champions League and develop his great skills and I’m not sure in which country or where that will be.

“But that conversation won’t happen now because all he wants to do is fight and help Aston Villa.”

United travel to Villa tonight looking to strengthen their push for Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile, the clash is a must-win for Villa.

They will close the gap on 17th-placed Watford to a point if they can upset the Red Devils later, with just four games remaining afterwards.
