Jack Grealish has been linked to Chelsea and Man City but Jose Mourinho says Aston Villa captain ‘knows where he wants to go’ – but it won’t be Roma as legendary manager jovially rules out transfer

Jack Grealish’s future has been the subject of much speculation for months, with Chelsea the latest club linked with the Aston Villa captain.

Manchester City have also been credited with interest but the £100m-rated midfielder already knows what’s next for him.

That’s according to Roma boss Jose Mourinho, who could at least rule one destination out for the England ace – Serie A!

Grealish, who was compared to Luis Figo by Mourinho last week, told talkSPORT he would like to one day play under the Special One.

Mourinho told Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast Show: “I think he knows where he wants to go. He knows the profile of club that will be able to buy him.

“My friend, [Aston Villa chief executive] Christian Purslow, knows the potential of the player and the value of the player.

“Of course, that is not for Roma. If it is for Italian football, it would be for a different club, not for us.”

Grealish’s form has also resulted in international recognition and is currently hoping to play for England against Scotland in their second Euro 2020 match on Friday evening.

“I hate to compare compare players from different generations,” Mourinho added when discussing the comparison with Figo, the former Real Madrid Galactico, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2000.

“Not just because they’re from different generations, but also because when you compare players you have to realise that Figo won the Golden Ball, the Champions League, Figo won everything in club football, Jack hasn’t.”

However, he can see the potential in Grealish. “The reality is that I see many, many things. The kid is a very good player.”
