Jamie O’Hara believes his former side Tottenham should sell a couple of players in order to fund a move for Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
While the ex-Spurs and Wolves midfielder is a big fan of Grealish’s talents, he does hold the view that the £80million price tag that has been slapped on him is completely unrealistic in this market.
“He’s had a great season, he would be brilliant for Spurs,” O’Hara told Thursday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.
“We should have got him a season ago when he was a lot cheaper. I don’t know if Spurs have got the money, maybe if they offload a couple. He would be great.
“I think it’s time for him to step up if he wants to be an England player; he needs to be a team near the top six.
“He’s not worth £80m; I love him, but in the current market, absolutely no chance [is he worth that].”
Villa are reportedly planning on offering Grealish a bumper new deal in order to fend off interest in their most prized asset.
The 24-year-old starred for Dean Smith’s side in 2019/20 as they beat the drop – scoring 10 times and creating eight more.
Grealish’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2023.
