Keinan Davis backed to quit Aston Villa after deal agreed – expert

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Keinan Davis to leave Aston Villa on a permanent deal this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer delivered his verdict as Cameron Archer is set to be the club’s third-choice striker this season.

Villa confirmed on Friday (5 August) that the 20-year-old had signed a new five-year deal and was set to play a major role under Steven Gerrard.

As quoted by Birmingham World on the same day, Gerrard revealed Davis was set to make his return from injury in the Under-21s’ game with Middlesbrough but he did not even make the bench.

The 24-year-old has had a disrupted pre-season due to injury after a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season.

“I really like Keinan Davis,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s had some injury problems in pre-season.

“Steven Gerrard will maybe look to sell or loan him out again.

“I think Keinan Davis will want to go. He had an amazing loan last season and should want to play football and be the first name on the team sheet at your club.

“Not to be the third or fourth choice at Aston Villa, that’s not what he will want.”

Davis scored five times and provided a further three assists in 22 games for Forest as they won promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs last term.

The Englishman still has two years left to run on his Aston Villa contract.
