Aston Villa now have “a fair amount of wiggle room” to make moves in the transfer market under the terms of Financial Fair Play.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest from behind the scenes at Villa Park.
A source told Football Insider on Friday (16 December) that Villa will reveal a profit when they release their accounts for the 2021-22 campaign.

It is also expected that Villa will surpass the club-record £183.6million revenue they raked in throughout 2020-21.
Maguire assessed the news and explained where it leaves the club in terms of FFP.
“It’s definitely a positive development for the club,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.
“As far as Villa or concern, the sale of Jack Grealish is the biggest driver of their ability to compete in the transfer market.
“That is because, under the way the accounts work, you get the full profit from a player the year he is sold. That can be useful because FFP’s assessment period is spread out over three years.
“By contrast, when buying players, the cost is usually spread out over multiple years because of amortisation.
“So, I think Villa have still got a fair amount of wiggle room under FFP because they now have a player trading model which is bringing in money as well as spending it.
