Jack Grealish has struggled since his move to Man City, but Tony Cascarino believes he will eventually thrive under Pep Guardiola.
The former Aston Villa star joined the Premier League champions for £100million in the 2021 summer transfer window, and despite the stats that show he hasn’t settled in, Grealish will ‘learn under Pep’ in seasons to come.
Since joining the club, Grealish has started in 14 of 22 Premier League games but has barely contributed in either goals or assists so far.
Four goal contributions in that time has illustrated how hard he has found it since leaving Villa Park.
With that said, former Villa and Chelsea forward, Cascarino, believes he will succeed at the Etihad and says that many players under Guardiola took time to settle in before showing their best form.
“I think he’ll learn under Pep and it’s gonna be his season where he becomes a more experienced, a bit more nous about his game and not the guy that can win a game on his own at times like he did at Villa,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT.
“That’s a slow process for anybody that joins Man City.
“He’s not the first, there are a number of others that have had similar experiences, they just don’t hit the ground running.”
Given how much he demands from his players, it is understandable as to why Grealish hasn’t found his feet yet at the Etihad.
Bernardo Silva for example has been crucial to City’s success this season since joining form Monaco from 2017.
Given that he was going to be used as makeweight for the deal to bring in Harry Kane in the 2021 summer transfer window, Silva has shown that taking Guardiola’s advice on board has seen him become one of the best players in City’s side.
