Kevin Phillips has tipped Tyrone Mings to show his best form for Aston Villa this season after the defender put pen to paper on a contract extension at Villa Park.
The former Claret and Blue, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that “a lot had happened” to the 27-year-old over the past couple of seasons and suggested that it was the reason his form had been inconsistent in 2020.
The West Midlands club confirmed on Monday that the centre-half had signed a contract extension until the summer of 2024.
He joined Villa captain Jack Grealish in committing his long-term future to the club after Grealish put pen to paper on a new five-year deal at Villa Park.
Mings has made 57 appearances in Claret and Blue having signed permanently from Bournemouth for a fee of £20million in July 2019.
When asked by Football Insider whether Villa fans should be excited by the season ahead following the latest contract announcement, Phillips said:
