Paul Robinson has claimed Aston Villa would be making “a massive statement” if they completed the signing of Joao Felix next year.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 23-year-old “would be the biggest” incoming at Villa Park for “a number of years.”
Felix caught the eye at the World Cup and several Premier League clubs are now said to be interested in him.
According to The Sun (13 December), Arsenal, Man United and Villa are interested in signing the Portugal international.
The versatile forward is under contract in the Spanish capital until the end of June 2026.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Villa’s reported interest in the ex-Benfica star, Robinson said: “It would be a massive statement signing.
“It would be a real backing of the new manager. If they managed to pull it off it would turn heads, make no doubt about that.
“The World Cup has not enhanced Joao Felix’s reputation but it has got his reputation back to where it was pre-Atletico Madrid.
“I do not think that move has worked out for him. It has not be hugely successful. His stock was higher before the move.

“He was very good in the World Cup though. He showed that he is world class.
“It would be the biggest signing Aston Villa have made in a number of years.”
