Ross McCormack was once sick on one of his Aston Villa teammates during a grueling pre-season session, claims Gabby Agbonlahor.
Pre-season is arguably the toughest time of the year for footballers as they are put through their paces following an extended break between seasons.
Historically, this period sees players playing very little football.
Instead they work on fitness levels by enduring long runs, bleep tests and various assessments, usually while battling the warm weather of an international training camp.
While many footballers boast extremely high levels of fitness, others have struggled to adapt to the challenge.
And Agbonlahor revealed his former Aston Villa teammate, McCormack was one of those during their time together between 2016 and 2018.
Speaking on The Sports Breakfast, Agbonlahor said: “Here’s a story for you.
“We did these runs with Steve Bruce, I think it was in Portugal or Spain and Nathan Baker and all of the players were doing these 1km runs and Ross McCormack was only sick on a player running past him.
“Imagine you’re doing your run and someone is sick on your leg running past!”
Ally McCoist then added his own hilarious pre-season tale from his time at Rangers, saying: “We did a pre-season with Walter [Smith] early doors alongside Terry Hurlock and we went on this six-mile run.
“I looked to my right and I saw Terry Hurlock jumping on the bus. He’d jumped on the bus and got off six stops ahead of the bus by the hotel!”
