Roy Hodgson will not attend Crystal Palace’s match against Aston Villa on Saturday after being taken unwell.
The Eagles confirmed their manager will not travel to Villa Park for the 3pm kick-off in a statement.
It read: “Unfortunately Roy Hodgson was taken unwell earlier today and is not at Villa Park.
“Roy is in contact with Paddy McCarthy, who will take the team today assisted by Ray Lewington.
“Roy sent his best wishes to the team ahead of the match. We send our very best wishes to Roy.”
Crystal Palace travel to Villa on Saturday afternoon with a chance to continue their decent form in the Premier League.
Hodgson’s side are seventh after two wins from their opening four games.
The 76-year-old came out of retirement to steer Palace away from the threat of relegation during the 2022/23 season.
He them signed a one-year extension to manage the Eagles for the 2023/24 campaign.
Responding to the news that Hodgson had been taken unwell, Saturday’s opponents Villa posted: “Get well soon, Roy.”
