Alan Hutton is “excited” by the transfer targets at Aston Villa.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa right-back said Unai Emery will “have a plan” for what kind of players he wants in the upcoming windows.
On 6 December sources told this site that the Villans are set to be offered the chance to sign Jannik Vestergaard from Leicester City in January.
The Foxes are willing to listen to offers after his summer move to Fulham collapsed.
Last month (3 November), this site revealed that Emery has made Villarreal defender Pau Torres a top target ahead of the January and summer window.
The midlands club are keeping an eye on the 25-year-old centre-back who played under the manager during his time as manager of the Spanish club.
When asked if someone like Vestergaard would be a good fit at Villa, Hutton told Football Insider: “Possibly.
“I think it has been an area of problem even when Steven Gerrard was there.
“Losing top signings and different things so it is probably something that they are monitoring again.
“I think the manager will want his own players in, the likes of Torres and these kind of guys they have been looking at.
“They are definitely coming up with a plan so it is really who you can get in. The January window is always a difficult one.
“I am excited to see who they can actually get over the line.“
