Noel Whelan has tipped Nottingham Forest to make a move to re-sign Henri Lansbury after he was put up for sale by Aston Villa.
The former Leeds striker and Championship expert, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes that a return to the City Ground could be in the best interests of both player and club.
As revealed by Football Insider, Villa have put the 29-year-old, who is on a £40,000-a-week contract, up for sale ahead of Friday’s domestic transfer deadline.
It is understood the Villans would consider either a permanent or a loan move for the former England under-21 star.
The London-born midfielder left the City Ground back in January 2017 to join Villa but he has struggled for game time since the club’s promotion back to the Premier League.
Whelan believes that there should be plenty of Championship sides chasing the midfielder’s capture and suggests that Forest could do with his quality after their poor start to the season.
