Alex McLeish has claimed Derby County may be the perfect first management job for Aston Villa number two John Terry.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Villa boss insisted Derby have “huge potential” and are a “cracking project”.
The Daily Mail report that Derby, who currently sit bottom of the Championship table, could target Terry if they decide to get rid of Phillip Cocu.
Football Insider revealed last week that Cocu was holding showdown talks with the Rams’ board over his future at the club.
He has survived the axe for now, but the Dutchman’s job is believed to be hanging by a thread.
McLeish told Football Insider: “John would probably do a Frank Lampard, go down the Frank Lampard route of going to a Championship team.
