Darren Bent has praised the defensive solidity of Aston Villa full-back Matty Cash saying he “has gone about his business very, very well.”
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Aston Villa and England striker said Cash, along with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez have been Villa’s “unsung heroes” this season.
The 23-year-old moved to Villa Park in September from Championship side Nottingham Forest after this site revealed the Midlands giants had beaten competition from West Ham.
He has started all five of Villa’s games since the move and has played a key role in the team keeping three clean sheets.
Dean Smith’s side have the best defensive record in the Premier League although they have played a game less than the majority of other teams.
Slough-born Cash initially broke into the Forest first-team as a right-winger and there were question marks over whether he could step up defensively in the top-flight.
