Chelsea legend John Terry in frame to leave Aston Villa and become new manager at Bristol City

JOHN TERRY could quit Aston Villa to take charge of Bristol City.

The 39-year-old Chelsea legend is reportedly in the running to become the new manager of the Championship side.

John Terry is reportedly in the running to become Bristol City’s new manager

Lee Johnson was axed by the Robins on Saturday after four-straight defeats ended their play-off hopes.

Now Football Insider claim a source told them “Terry is in the frame for the newly-vacant role as he eyes his first managerial position” since hanging up his boots.

The Chelsea legend has been Dean Smith’s number two at Villa since October 2018.

However, the former England captain has made no secret of his managerial ambitions.

And he could be set to hold talks with the Ashton Gate outfit over the coming days.

Terry will face competition for the vacancy from elsewhere.

Wigan Athletic’s Paul Cook is another believed to be on City’s shortlist after the Latics entered administration last week.

Both he and JT are believed to have thrown their hats into the ring.

And Mick McCarthy is another who has declared his interest in the role.

Johnson was sacked after four-and-a-half years in charge.

City had been well-placed to challenge for the top six for the majority of the campaign until a nine-game winless run either side of the season’s coronavirus suspension cost him his job.
