Danish journalist makes bold prediction regarding Rasmus Falk and Aston Villa

________

Rasmus Falk hit the headlines tonight after his trickery bamboozled Manchester United’s Brandon Williams and Fred in the Europa League, but he’s hitting the headlines for a second time with rumours beginning to fly.

Danish journalist David Kroner, who works for sports broadcaster TV3 Sport, tweeted this evening making the bold prediction that “Rasmus Falk will play for Aston Villa in the next fourteen days”.

Of course, the journalist could be using the obvious Lange-Villa-Kobenhavn link as a quick and easy joke – but on the other hand – a ‘link’ is entirely plausible.

At 28-years-old, Falk is beyond the “buy young with room to make a profit” model that Aston Villa have adopted in previous windows, but could prove to be a savvy move in the market for a relatively small fee. With the clubs’ new Sporting Director, Johan Lange, well versed in Falk and everything he can provide in a footballing capacity – it isn’t beyond the realms of reason to see the pair reunite.

It could be a convenient link, but with a relatively low market value, Rasmus Falk could provide a strong squad option at the very least for a minimal amount of money.

Falk, a Danish International who has spent his entire career in the Danish Leagues, has played for Lange’s former club FC Kobenhavn for the past three seasons and is contracted until 2022.

As a player, he is an exceptional passer – registering over 2998 passes over the last season, with over 90% of these being accurate. He attempts shorter passes rather than longer ones or through balls, but is still relatively accurate with more riskier plays too.

This season he has won 217 out of 350 attempted ground duels, an exceptional return for a player who is slight of frame and stands at five feet and eight inches.

He is by no means a goal scorer, but is able to use his technique and ability to work and create space, options and opportunities for his team-mates, and could be utilised well at Aston Villa moving forward.

Something to note is his deployment as every kind of midfielder you could imagine over the past season at FC Kobenhavn. He has played as a left winger, right winger, central attacking midfielder, central midfielder and central defensive midfielder in over 4000 minutes of football.

Perhaps not one to wet the lips at – but certainly a player with an engine and a use, for a low fee. Nothing to complain about.
