Said Benrahma: Tottenham become SIXTH Premier League club to enter race for Brentford star linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Leeds and Villa

Tottenham have reportedly become the latest Premier League club to enter the race for Brentford star Said Benrahma, who has already been linked with a host of top-flight sides.

Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Leeds and Aston Villa have all been credited with an interest in the Bees winger, whose performances in the Championship this season have seen him dubbed the ‘Algerian Messi’.

Brentford, who missed out on promotion to the first division with a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Fulham in the Championship play-off final on Tuesday, are resigned to losing their star player this summer.

The Bees run by signing unknown talents like Benrahma, locating them with sophisticated data models, before developing them and selling on for huge profit, like they did with Neal Maupay, who joined Brighton for Ā£19m last summer.

So Brentford will sell, but reports claim they will not accept less than Ā£25m for Benrahma, who notched 17 goals and nine assists in the second tier this season.

According to the Daily Mirror, Spurs have now registered their interest in the 24-year-old, although they may struggle to compete in a transfer battle.

Jose Mourinho has already warned Tottenham will not spend ‘rivers of money’ during the current transfer window, while the club were forced to borrow Ā£175m worth of government cash to ease the financial burden caused by the coronavirus crisis.
