Ollie Watkins has been hailed as ‘something special’ by Aston Villa teammate Douglas Luiz.
The forward is on track for the best season of his Villa career after hitting the goal trail in impressive fashion in recent weeks.
In his last 13 matches, the 27-year-old has scored 11 goals for Unai Emery’s side as he looks to help the club sustain their push for European football next term.
Villa currently sit in sixth spot in the table, two points behind Tottenham and one ahead of Liverpool who have played one match fewer.
Watkins is now on 15 goals and six assists for the season as he continues to lead the line for Emery’s side and speaking exclusively to talkSPORT.com, Luiz said that his recent record is no more than Watkins deserves.
Luiz said: “Truthfully, I’ve always thought of Ollie Watkins as an excellent player and someone who has something special about him.
“He comes in every day and works hard and finishes very well.
“He’s strong and he’s a pleasure to work with and assist during matches.
“I’m happy he’s at the club. He deserves everything that he’s getting and I wish that he keeps doing well.”
Watkins is also said to be back on Gareth Southgate’s radar for his England squad for the June qualifiers.
