Gabby Agonlahor has backed Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez to win the World Cup with Argentina.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer claimed Martinez and his Argentina teammates are all playing for Lionel Messi.
The 30-year-old has started all of Argentina’s games in Qatar and looks set to retain his place in Sunday’s (18 December) final with France.

As quoted by BBC Sport earlier this week (14 December), Messi confirmed that the final will be his last World Cup game.
The trophy is the major honour that alludes the 35-year-old who won the Copa America with his country last year.
“The difference between Argentina and all the other teams is that all of the Argentina players are doing it for Messi,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They did it in the Copa America, they weren’t the best team but won because they were all playing at 100 per cent for Messi.
“They are like soldiers in battle and they will not let Messi down.
“They are not the best team by a country mile but have the determination to win it for Messi.
“Martinez’s performances are good for Aston Villa and for himself.
“He had an outstanding Copa America so I knew when it went to penalties against the Netherlands that he would save some.
“He’s another one, he will look at it and think ‘Wow, I’m playing with Messi, three years ago I wasn’t even playing at Arsenal and nobody knew of me. Now I’ve got a chance to play with Messi.’
“He’ll be giving it his all and I think Argentina are in a good place.”
