Hutton would ‘love’ Tierney at Aston Villa amid ‘big’ claim

Kieran Tierney would be a great addition to Aston Villa, if he can keep himself fit.

That’s according to former Tottenham and Villa defender Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Tierney’s future.

The 26-year-old currently has three years left on his Arsenal contract but has fallen down the pecking order as a result of injuries and the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City last summer.

The Scotland international has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United and this site has learned that the left-back is set to make a final decision on his future in the coming weeks.

According to The Times (1 June), Villa are set to rival Newcastle to the signing of Tierney this summer and manager Unai Emery is believed to be a big admirer of the defender.

Hutton insisted Tierney would be a great addition to the Villa squad.

I would love to see him there,” he told Football Insider.

Aston Villa have got options, [Alex] Moreno and [Lucas] Digne, you would think one would have to leave.

Arsenal

Moreno has just been brought in, the manager knows him really well but I think Tierney probably gives you the best of both. I think he is very sound defensively, he can move in one if you want but attacking he is highly thought of as well.

The problem with him is injury, that has been a big problem for him since he made the move. If he can stay healthy I would really like to see him there I think he is a fantastic footballer.
